IBM Readies 100 Software Vendors For Next Generation Employee WorkEnvironment
New resources, tools help ISVs build collaboration capabilities into
network-centric applications
SOMERS, NY -- Nov. 23, 2004 -- IBM today announced that 100 independent software vendors (ISVs) have enabled their applications to run on the IBM Workplace platform, a new client computing model that gives employees a single, flexible and security-rich way to access, share and manage applications and data. The company also launched a new Workplace Resource Center on its developerWorks site (www.ibm.com/developerWorks) to give developers and IBM Business Partners online access to tools and enablement resources for IBM Workplace technology.
Today's announcement is part of the broader IBM Workplace initiative; a new approach to 'front-end' computing models designed to help organizations migrate from PC-centric workplaces to network-managed delivery of employee tools and applications in a unified, roles-based environment.
As part of today's announcement, IBM unveiled a new Workplace Resource Center on its developerWorks site to provide a detailed overview of the technologies and products driving IBM's Workplace initiative, including links to business and technical articles, whitepapers, code downloads, and other resources to help developers deliver applications in network-centric computing environments.
Workplace Resource Center is accessible at: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/workplace.
